About AmountHub

AmountHub is an independent calculator project built to answer practical “how much do I need?” questions with simple tools and transparent explanations.

What the site is for

Many project estimates start with a small amount of maths but become awkward once units, waste allowances, density, pack sizes or product coverage are involved. AmountHub turns those steps into focused calculators that can be used quickly without creating an account.

The current collection concentrates on construction, landscaping and home-improvement quantities: gravel, concrete, sand, soil, mulch, asphalt, paving, bricks, paint, tiles, flooring and drywall. The aim is not to publish hundreds of nearly identical pages. New tools are added when they solve a distinct planning problem.

What makes an AmountHub calculator useful

A calculator page should do more than return a number. It should explain the formula, identify the assumptions behind the estimate, show a worked example and describe the situations where the result may differ from a supplier's or manufacturer's specification.

For example, loose materials such as gravel and sand need density assumptions, while tiles and pavers depend on unit dimensions and waste. Paint depends on coverage and coats. Flooring depends on pack coverage. These are different problems and the pages are written around those differences.

How calculations are handled

Calculator inputs are processed directly in your browser. AmountHub does not send or store the measurements you type into a calculator. Unit conversions and formulas run locally in the page.

Results are intended as planning estimates. Supplier data, manufacturer instructions, project drawings and professional specifications should take priority when they are available. You can read more about formula design, conversions, rounding and quality checks on the methodology page.

Scope and limitations

AmountHub focuses on practical quantity and measurement tools. It is not intended to replace engineering design, building-code advice, professional site assessment, or personalised medical, legal or financial advice.

Corrections and feedback

If you spot a calculation issue, confusing wording or a unit that appears wrong, please report it. Useful reports include the calculator name, the values entered and the result you expected. See the contact page for details.
